3 Silent Ways to Market Your Content Marketing Writing Services

Wouldn’t it be great if you could increase your content marketing business without sending a single email, picking up the phone, or even posting on social media? Last week I talked about the importance marketing your business to friends and family. But this week, I am going to give you three ways to marketing your content marketing services without saying a word.

  1. Update Your Email Signature – What does your current email signature say? Is it “Freelance Writer” or do you also include “Content Marketing Writer and Copywriter”? This is an especially effective technique if you are working with sources for trade publications, consumer magazines, or websites that may also have content marketing needs. For example, I write articles for several publications and websites geared toward hospitality professionals, which is an area where I have significant industry knowledge. Earlier this year, I got a writing assignment from a B2B hospitality company that I worked with on an article simply because I had included Content Marketing Writer in my email signature. And be sure to include a link to your website so that potential clients can see your work.
  2. Advertise on Your Website – And speaking of websites, be sure that you include content marketing writing on your front page as well as on your services page. I even took it a step further and added it on my tagline at the top of the website. Additionally, you may want to consider including a list of clients you have written for on your website as well, especially if you have written for well-known companies.
  3. Don’t Forget About Your LinkedIn ProfileI mentioned this a few weeks ago, but it bears repeating since I have gotten several content marketing writing inquiries through my LinkedIn page. Make sure that you include Content Marketing Writer in your professional headline as well as including your experience in your profile.
  4. Business Cards – How do you refer to yourself on your business cards? If you simply have Freelance Writer on your card, add Content Marketing Writer to your title the next time you order new cards. A few months later, one of your networking contents could just very well be going through their business card collection looking for content marketing writers. The words ‘content marketing writer’ could very well be the difference in the sound of crickets and getting a new content marketing writing gig.

Have you tried any of these techniques? Any other silent marketing techniques that have worked for you?

Great tips. I’ve had a lot of success using LinkedIn as well as links in my email and forum signatures. The bottom line for me is to have a great website, and try to get your name in front of as many people as possible.

    Thanks!

    Michael

Hello! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering
if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for
my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having
difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!

First oof all I would like to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I’d
like to ask iif you don’t mind. I was curious
to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before
writing. I have had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions orr hints? Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by. I totally understand your problem of getting started. One of the things I do is plan out the draft in my head while i am doing other things, like waiting in the carpool line at my kids school or running. Then when i sit down to write, I just write down my thoughts without worrying about how bad it sounds. Then I come back and clean it up a few hours (or if possible, the next day). It is much easier if you give yourself permission to write a BAD first draft. And then you will usually find it’s not as bad as you think and even if it is, you have a place to start.
