5 Things Overheard on Tuesday at #CMWorld that I Wish I Had Said

Whoo Hoo! I made it to Cleveland and am officially at Content Marketing World. While the main conference doesn’t kickoff until Wednesday, today was a very busy day on the #CMWorld hashtag with pre-conference workshops and people tweeting as they arrive in Cleveland. Last year, some of my favorite tweets came from the workshops, so I thought I would kickoff the event by posting my top favorite tweets from today. I plan to do this throughout the conference so that those of you at home can follow along and fellow attendees can catch up on what they missed on the #CMWorld hashtag while networking and attending sessions.

Marcia Riefer Johnston posted Laura Creekmore‘s slide that encapsulates the question I ask myself on every single content marketing writing job, before I write a word: “What problem do you solve?”

Bill Cushard tweeted something I could not agree with more: “Buyer persona documents are nice but getting off your ass and meeting the actual people is priceless.”

Maureen Jann captured this gem from Ardath Albee: “Focus on the buyer’s experience rather than YOUR perspective. Relevance to THEM is key.” I love this statement because unless you do this you cannot truly solve the audiences problems. You have to forget what you want them to know and focus on what they want to know.

Ann Handley made my day because I was included in the list of Top 50 Content Marketing Influencers at #CMWorld. Very surprised and thrilled to be on this list that Top Rank Marketing put together.

Christoph Trappe‘s message is so great, he wears it on his chest! “Everybody is an influencer to somebody.” It’s not the tweet in this one that I loved, but the quote on the sweatshirt. It’s so easy to judge and label influencers by blog posts and tweets, but influence is so much deeper than that.

Did you see any other tweets on #CMWorld today that you thought were especially noteworthy? Or were you at the workshops and learned something especially helpful?

Awww, Thank you Lori! You actually played a role in me getting on the list because for the past 2 or 3 years, you tweet every single one of my posts. I really appreciate it! You have been one of my most loyal readers and tweeters!
